The Apex Chassis ProLock Steering Kit KIT (Black Steel) 380P-STL is a high-quality upgrade for the front end of your Dodge Ram 2500/3500. These direct replacement, extreme-duty Tie Rod and Drag Link assembly will replace your underperforming OE steering components. Oversized tie rod and drag link ends, connected by massive DOM steel adjusting sleeves, will stop death wobble and tighten up steering under the most extreme conditions. Weak adjusting sleeves are replaced with the tie rod and drag link ends that thread directly into the connecting rods, secured by jam nuts and Apex's Ninja Lock-Washers and ProLock washers.

Housing

SAE 1045 Solid Steel Forged Housing means that this housing is unmistakably the best carbon alloy steel for this application. To make their parts and bearings dimensionally perfect, Apex CNC machined the housing to eliminate any die wear issues.

Ball Studs

SAE 4140 Hot Forged Chromoly Ball Studs allow for the strongest possible metallurgy.
Induction Heat Treated Ball Studs offer a very precise heat treatment to the exact depth and location it is needed.
Rolled Threads are made by pressing the shape of the threads into the ball stud instead of cutting. This fortifies the threads instead of weakening them and allows for easy movement of hardware.
Step Threa ds allow for very easy movement of hardware during installation and superior holding when torqued (installer choice).

Bearing Design

Rugged metal-to-metal bearing design for extreme durability.

Boots

CR Rubber Boots are the most durable material for undercar applications (also known as neoprene) is resistant to deterioration from road-level ozone, oil, gas, engine fluids, and extreme heat or cold.
Accordion Boots are ideal for high-articulation components; more flexibility means longer life.

Finish

Drawn Over Mandrel (DOM) Steel is powder-coated black for durability.

Hardware

Grade 8 - Class 10.9 Hardware for superior tensile strength.
Castle Nuts are used as they are an industry standard where high vibration loads occur.

Adjusting Rods

2" DOM SAE 1020 Tube Tie Rods and 1.75" DOM SAE 1020 Tube Drag Links: Heavy-walled steel tubing delivers the tightest, most robust steering on the market.

Lubrication

Pre-Threaded Zerk Housing; if you have ever installed a factory-style Ball Joint without a pre-threaded Zerk fitting, you will know what a simple but great feature this is.
This Greaseable housing is pre-greased and ready for installation.
Gull Winged Grease Grooves allow for better lubrication disbursement around the ball stud.
Zerk Fittings are included for every application.

Special Features

  • ProLock Link Connect System is an APEX Chassis exclusive: This patent-pending system uses a precision keyway cut into the threads of the tie rod ends, and a pre-bent keyway washer that locks onto the wrench flats of the connecting rod to completely stop any tie rod rotation once the jam nut is set. Once this jam nut is torqued to spec, it is then locked in place with 3 setscrews inset into the jam nut.
  • Pre-Bent Ninja Washers are another APEX exclusive: Ninja Washers, which are a unique method of securing the lock nut to the tube, remove the need for lightly built adjusting tubes with ugly pinch clamps. And who doesn't want Ninjas on their truck's front end!
  • Reversible Drag Link is an APEX Innovation: In some applications, the pitman arm end of the drag link is flipped over, causing problems with mounting the steering stabilizer into the tapered hole on the drag link end. To fix this, Apex has drilled the hole out straight and included a reversible stainless steel taper sleeve so the steering stabilizer can be mounted from either side.
  • Greaseable, High Articulation Spherical Bushing: For superior durability, the passenger side tie rod is fitted with an oversized greaseable high articulation spherical bushing. This allows for maximum load disbursement and articulation, providing better performance and longer service life.
  • Minimum Engagement Mark on Drag Link End Threads: If this mark in the thread of the drag link is visible, it means you are beyond the safe engagement of threads into the adjusting sleeve. Your truck may be raised too high and need to switch to a flip kit, or you may need to equalize the adjusting sleeve between the two ends.
