Elevate your driving experience with the South Bend K70641-SS-B Stage 3 Competition Clutch Kit, designed for the Volkswagen Jetta 2.0L TDI. Tailored for manual transmission diesel engines, this kit enhances performance. Each kit features a high-quality pressure plate for superior clamping force and a full-face disc design for smooth engagement and improved torque transmission. Upgrade to a South Bend Clutch system for drivetrain performance you expect.

Ceramic Friction Material: Ceramic clutch material is engineered for high-performance and heavy-duty applications where heat resistance and torque capacity are critical. Constructed using ceramic-based compounds, these clutch discs offer superior friction and power transfer, making them ideal for demanding situations such as performance racing, competitive off-roading, and heavy towing. Ceramic material excels in preventing clutch fade under extreme heat and stress. While ceramic clutches deliver unmatched torque handling, they tend to have a more aggressive engagement, which can lead to a slightly harsher feel during gear shifts. This makes them better suited for experienced drivers and performance vehicles rather than casual everyday driving where smooth engagement is preferred.

Solid Hub Style: A solid hub clutch design is engineered for maximum durability and torque transfer, making it ideal for high-performance and heavy-duty applications. This style features a rigid hub without any internal damping springs, providing a direct connection between the engine and transmission. The solid hub excels in delivering instant power transfer, making it perfect for racing, track use, and extreme towing where immediate clutch engagement is crucial. Due to its lack of shock absorption, solid hub clutches can produce a harsher engagement feel and increased drivetrain noise compared to sprung hub alternatives. However, their simplicity and robustness make them a top choice for drivers demanding maximum performance in controlled environments where comfort is less critical.

Full Face Disc Style: The full face clutch disc is designed for smooth engagement, even wear, and maximum surface contact with the pressure plate and flywheel. Covering the entire friction surface, this design provides excellent power transfer, making it ideal for daily drivers, light towing, and vehicles where comfort and longevity are top priorities. The increased surface area allows for better heat distribution, reducing the risk of premature wear.  Full face discs excel in standard and moderate performance applications, offering a balanced blend of drivability and durability. However, they may lack the aggressive grip required for extreme power handling compared to paddle-style discs, making them better suited for stock to lightly modified vehicles.

Single Disc: A single disc clutch is the most common and straightforward clutch design, featuring one friction disc to transfer power from the engine to the transmission. Known for its simplicity and reliability, it is ideal for standard vehicles, daily drivers, and light performance applications. Single disc clutches provide smooth engagement, making them perfect for casual driving and moderate power outputs. While single disc clutches offer excellent drivability and cost-effectiveness, they have limited torque capacity compared to multi-disc setups. This design is best suited for vehicles with moderate horsepower levels where comfort, longevity, and ease of use are the primary concerns.

Stage 3 Clutch: A Stage 3 clutch is built for high-performance and heavy-duty applications where aggressive power handling is required. Using ceramic materials, this clutch provides exceptional heat resistance and torque capacity, making it ideal for vehicles with significant power modifications, such as forced induction or high-horsepower diesel builds. While Stage 3 clutches offer superior performance under load, they often result in a firmer pedal feel and more abrupt engagement, which may be challenging for casual driving. This stage is best suited for high-performance vehicles, drag racing, and extreme towing where maximum power transfer is crucial.
