Replace the worn, high-mileage diesel in your Ram 2500/3500 with a Choate Reman 5.9 Short Block Crate Engine - Daily Driver. While the Dodge diesel platform has been known for its reliability over the years, it has also developed some common shortcomings. The Daily Driver addresses these issues effectively, ensuring improved performance and reduced downtime for customers. With enhancements like Choate billet freeze plugs and a new oil pump, this engine is designed for long-lasting reliability.

The full CNC blueprint machining process includes precision boring, decking, honing, and line honing to meet exact specifications. The cylinder bores are bored to a true 90 degrees from the crankshaft centerline and diamond honed to within .0002 inches for precise piston-to-cylinder bore clearances. The main housing is also honed to ensure perfect alignment of the crankshaft within the engine block. Each piston diameter is measured to the nearest .0001 inches to match the cylinder bores precisely.

The Choate Short Block is equipped with new pistons, piston rings, pin retainers, and OE tappets. The crankshaft is polished and ground to a concentricity of .0005 inches or less, ensuring smooth operation. New rod bearings, main bearings, and cam bearings are included for enhanced reliability. Furthermore, as the standard freeze plugs in the block can possibly blow out, every Choate engine comes equipped with blow-out-proof billet freeze plugs that are securely bolted to the block. In addition, the Daily Driver series includes a balanced rotating assembly with a new harmonic balancer and flexplate, as well as a new oil pan, and rear main seal.

Choate Short Block Note:

Short Block engines typically consist of just a rotating assembly inside an engine block and are ready for the final buildup. This short block does not include the cylinder head as well as bolt-on components such as the front cover, valve covers, intake, exhaust, fuel system, or turbo components. These items will need to be changed over from your existing engine or purchased new and installed onto your new Choate Short Block before installation into your truck.
